I have so may makeovers to share, it's hard to know where to start. Blogging has been on my back burner for a while now. I just haven't had the time to fit it in. Last month I purchased my first lap top computer, now I can work on posts at the shop while paint dries etc. For the past couple of weeks I have been getting back to it and really enjoying myself! Even though I have been MIA from blogging for a long time (Wow! a lot has changed in that time) I have been saving pictures in my "good intentions" file.
This amazing Drexel bedroom furniture is the first makeover I'm sharing from my good intentions file. This beautiful set was in amazing condition, it was hard for us to break down and paint it! After being for sale for a couple of months in the warehouse "as is" we finally decided to paint.
Mark, my hubby who is now helping me full time (huge change since I was last blogging!), prepped the pieces for paint. I decided on a classic black distressed finish using General Finishes Lamp Black for these beautiful pieces. When I do pieces in black it is always a struggle for me to decide between a natural stained top or all paint. Most pieces I almost automatically go with the stained top but black I always have to think about. These pieces had beautiful wood grains though and I wanted that to be showcased so I went with the stain. I used General Finishes Antique Walnut Gel Stain. It is perfect for black because it is not too dark.
