Buffets are my favorite pieces of furniture to work with. They are just so versatile, we rarely sell one to be used in a traditional dining room setting. This piece went home to be used as a dresser. She was finished in our Antiqued Cream Finish. To achieve this finish we use General Finishes Antique White and a custom of glazes, on this piece we added distressing for a more informal look.
The top was stained with General Finishes Java stain. When we use the gel stain we always sand back to the natural wood before applying. We work through different grits of paper staring with 80, 150 and finally 220. This color was achieved with just one coat.
All of our pieces are finished with a protective top coating. This buffet received 3 coats of General Finishes High Performance Polyurethane . The hardware was painted with Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze and the drawers and doors were lined with wallpaper as the finishing touch.
