I love to get my hands on a credenza with ornate detailing. These pieces always paint up fabulously! This one was certainly wanting a new look, here is the before pic~
Normally I shy away from pieces that are not solid wood but this one was irresistible! A favorite client of mine thought so too. The body of the piece is wood but the ornate pieces on the doors are made form some sort of plastic like material. To prep the credenza I sanded as normal on the body and lightly scuffed up the doors for better adhesion. I use my favorite oil based Kilz primer and painted as normal. Of course those details were begging for glaze! I finished with Polycrylic to preserve the true color of the white.
I sprayed the hardware black and distressed just enough to give it a bit of character~
The back is lined with Dwell Studio fabric, love this stuff!
