French Dressing Table

This is hands down the most amazing piece of furniture I have had the privilege to makeover. This gorgeous french dressing table is the first piece to a bedroom suite I am refinishing. I won this furniture at an auction a few weeks ago. The entire set has had been painted a drippy mustard yellow with streaky brown glaze. Here is the before picture~
Underneath these pieces are all very high quality solid mahogany. I knew the prepping process would take a while, but I was completely unprepared for the 8hrs it took for me to sand this piece down! Because the former paint was chipping badly and not well done it had to be completely removed. You can see what a job that is with all of the detailed carving. It was an exciting moment when I finally got this piece sanded, primed and ready to paint!
here she is primed and ready to go
I chose Behr Ultra Premium Plus paint in Light French Gray. It is a lovely shade of gray, I want to paint everything in my house this color now! I glazed with Ralph Lauren glaze in Black Velvet. To finish the piece I used Minwax Wipe on Poly. I love the final results!

The drawer interiors are done in a rich Garnet~

The original brass hardware was primed and sprayed black with a light misting of satin nickel, This gives a beautiful patina almost like tarnished silver. LOVE!

My little helper is never far away!
