Finishing up the White

Remember the bedroom suit I picked up on Craigslist a couple of weeks ago? I wrote a post on the curvy  dresser, but by the time I finished the other pieces I was a quite tired of white. As a matter of fact, I was so tired of it I didn't even want to blog about it! I am over that now, cured by cranking out  some colorful pieces. I painted each of these pieces with my favorite Dove White by Valspar. It is truly the most perfect shade of white.
Before of the nightstand, oops can't find one of the chest~

Love those curves!

Light distressing, so pretty on the white~

I kept the original hardware~

Same treatment for the matching nightstand~

I have had this bed in the garage for a while, it was the same basic style so I made it to match~

If I haven't made you tired of white yet here are the details of the makeovers~
I started by sanding, I used spray primer to block the red mahogany bleed through. It still bleeds even though it is completely sanded, I don't understand why but it's a fact. Then I painted with three coats of white, I sanded between coats for a smooth finish. I finished each piece off with 2 coats of wipe on poly. I was very pleased to be able to work with such lovely, high quality furniture and now that I've had a break I think I am ready for more classic white!
